The national bestselling author CJ Lyons returns to the front lines of the struggle between life and death in WARNING SIGNS (Jove Mass Market Original; January 27, 2009; $7.99), which follows the lives and loves of four women in Pittsburgh’s Angels of Mercy ER.

Medical student Amanda Mason is 800 miles from home, broke, and struggling to finish school. But at Pittsburgh’s Angels of Mercy Medical Center she’s been able to find friends who have helped her through the challenges of medical school. Until now.

Now, she’s keeping a secret from everyone — and denying it to herself. For months, she’s been suffering strange symptoms that defy diagnosis, but she really has neither the time nor the money to succumb to the luxury of run-of-the-mill med-student hypochondria. Besides, no one except the irritatingly observant neurologist Dr. Lucas Stone seems to be paying her symptoms any attention—not that she would mind Dr. Stone paying her some attention under different circumstances.

But when a girl comes into the ER with inexplicable—all-too-familiar—symptoms which prove fatal, and another one slips into a coma, Amanda must face the truth that she could be suffering from the same unknown illness. With the help of her roommate Gina, a once-cocky resident whose faith in herself has been severely shaken after a traumatic near-death experience; Lydia, a street-smart ER attending physician; and Nora, a straight-laced charge nurse whose penchant for following the rules clashes with Lydia’s maverick style, Amanda begins to sift through the tantalizing clues, searching for something that will lead her to an answer—before she becomes the next victim…
